Here are the highlights:

  • Save the date: February 18, 2023 for a MARDI GRAS PARTY! 6:30PM AT STS. PETER & PAUL. Tickets are on sale after Masses this weekend. Make it a fun, family night with music, dancing, activities, and eating!
    • Teen – $5
    • Adult – $10
    • Family – $25
  • Donations of beignets, king cake, cupcakes, cookies, and brownies are needed to round out the food offerings for the evening. If you are able to provide any of these, please deliver your donations to the Parish Hall Friday afternoon or before Mass on Saturday (2/18). Thank you so very much!
  • Thank you to all who attended the Health Talks this week. Hopefully, you were inspired by these presentations. Thank you to our speakers for their time and sharing their knowledge. Thank you to all who helped make the Talks possible, especially Catherine Heffley for organizing this 4-day event. The event comes to a close tomorrow with Mass at 10am, with anointing of the sick, brunch at 11am, and ending with 2 additional speakers from Family Medicine and Cardiology, beginning at noon in the Commons.
  • Sts. Peter and Paul now has a weekly YOGA class on Tuesdays from 11-12 in the Hall. Direct questions to Renata Miller at 757.536.8408 or email [email protected].
  • Calling all parishioners! The Welcoming Ministry needs you! Be a welcoming greeter at the front door before Mass on Saturday or Sunday. Be the smile that welcomes your fellow Catholics to Mass. Call Rose Meyer at 434.589.5018 or 434.989.9761.
  • Lenten Lunches will return this Lenten season beginning on Friday, February 24th in the Commons, after Stations of the Cross at noon. We can’t do it without your help! There is a sign-up sheet on the kitchen door in the Commons for those willing to contribute soup or sandwiches. Please fill in your name/phone #/what kind of soup or sandwich you’ll be bringing. Thank you in advance.
  • Fish Fry-days return this Lent on Friday, February 24th at 5:30pm. Indoor seating will be available this year as well as drive-thru. Contact Doug Mullinex at 434.981.6950 with questions. Donations of desserts for these 6 weeks are greatly appreciated.

  • The Spring campaign for 40 Days for Life begins at the end of February. Sts. Peter and Paul has committed to vigil hours on Tuesdays, beginning March 7th, from 10 – 11am in front of Planned Parenthood (2964 Hydraulic Road. A group of parishioners meet in front of Jefferson Pharmacy and depart promptly at 9 am. Anyone wishing to drive themselves can find ample parking across the street behind the Baptist church. These vigils are non-confrontational and meant solely to pray peacefully for the unborn.
  • TABELLA is a free Catholic app that we will use to keep you up-to-date on events at both churches. Please pick up the flyer in the Commons that will walk you through loading the app to your Smartphone and making SPP or SJ your preferred parish.
  • In an ongoing effort, sneakers are being collected to benefit CHIU (Catholic Health Initiatives for Uganda). It doesn’t matter the condition. (p. 5)
  • De Colores! – the next women’s Cursillo weekend, “Blessed, Broken, and Shared,” is May 18-21 in Massanetta Springs. Application deadline is April 26th.

  • St. Joseph is gearing up to celebrate 140 years beginning March 4th. We kick-off our celebration with Mass at 11am on Saturday, followed by a potluck luncheon and a brief talk covering the history of the parish and the various events planned throughout the year. If you have memories to share, please contact the office.
  • Ash Wednesday Mass is at 5:00 pm on Feb. 22.
  • The next WYD fundraiser event is on February 18, 2023 at 6:30pm for a Mardi Gras dance party at Sts. Peter and Paul. Tickets are available after Mass. Donations of beignets, king cakes, cupcakes, cookies, and brownies are needed for the evening. Please drop off at SPP Parish Hall.
