CHRIST THE KING
Greetings!
Your bulletin: https://saintspeterpaulpalmyra.org/november-20th-2022/
Here are the highlights:
- Our Parish Eucharistic Revival Mission: The Joy of the Eucharist in the Life of the Church, takes place on November 17th – 19th starting at 7pm, headed by guest speaker Ted Musco, from the Archdiocese of New York, features talks on the Eucharist and transformation in Christ, the Eucharist and Conversion, and the Eucharist as food for the Journey. The vision of the mission is to inspire a movement of Catholics across the US who are healed, converted, formed, and unified by an encounter with Jesus in the Eucharist – and who are then sent out on mission “for the life of the world”. There will also be 12 hours of adoration from the 18th-19th beginning at 8pm in the church. Please join us!
- The office will have temporary hours of operation while Karen is away.
- Monday 9am – 3pm
- Tuesday CLOSED
- Wednesday 9am – 3pm
- Thursday 9am – 3pm
- Friday 10am – 2pm
- A HUGE thanks goes out to Marianne and Pat Amato for holding down the fort while I’m away.
- This is the final weekend for Happy Face donations. Your donations help provide gifts and goodies for the disadvantaged, who would otherwise have nothing this Christmas season.
- The Knights are collecting unwrapped, unisex gifts for kids, ages 0 – 12 years of age. Please leave your gifts under the Knights table in the Commons. (p. 8)
- The Angel tree is up! We have 14 children and 2 seniors who will have nothing without your help. We ask that you prayerfully consider granting their wish this year. Please return gifts wrapped, with tag attached by December 12th. Please provide as little or as much of their wish list as you feel appropriate. The tag has all of the information that was provided to the office. There are also a few generic gift cards on the tree to help the office when people call asking for gas cards or food cards. Thank you for any amount you are able to offer. (p. 9)
- Evelyn’s $ for the Girl Child is collecting new items for babies and their young mothers in Uganda. You will find tags on the Angel tree (bright green) of items in need. Please return these unwrapped and place in the baskets beside the Angel tree (coming next week). (p. 9)
- New USHERS are needed at both Masses. This is an excellent way to serve. Contact Frank Pilk if you are interested (571.239.3373).
- Did you miss the opportunity to learn about DISC golf earlier this summer? There’s another chance to learn about the game on Nov. 20th at 2:30pm. Talk to Joe Amato if you have any questions, otherwise, just show up at Pleasant Grove Park (not the dog park) behind the playground.
- In an ongoing effort, sneakers are being collected to benefit CHIU (Catholic Health Initiatives for Uganda). It doesn’t matter the condition. (p. 5)
- Thanksgiving Dinner will be offered this year on Thanksgiving Day at 3pm in St. Francis. If you are by yourself or don’t have any plans, plan on coming to dinner at church. We do ask that you bring a side or dessert to share (please let us know what you are bringing); the turkey, stuffing, gravy, and cranberries will be provided. We need a count of how many plan to attend so please sign up on the sheet on the kitchen door in the Commons. Donations towards the purchase of turkeys are gladly accepted; there is a donation box in the Commons. (p. 9)
- Mark your calendars for Parents’ Night Out on Friday, December 2nd from 5:30pm to 9pm in the Parish Hall for children 3 years +. Our World Youth Day participants will host movies, crafts and snacks while parents enjoy an evening out. (p. 4)
- SAVE THE DATE: Lessons & Carols is coming Sunday, December 11. We are asking for donations of cookies for this event.
- If you are in either building after normal business hours, please, please, please, be sure to:
- NOT prop doors open (we cannot afford to heat/cool the outside).
- turn lights/ceiling fans off (even if you didn’t turn them on)
- turn off/unplug the portable heater/fan (chapel users only)
- turn around and make sure the outermost doors have completely closed behind you. (Yank on the door to make sure it doesn’t open.) **This continues to be a problem.
- Thank you for your assistance in this matter.
- The next MASS IN SPANISH is this Sunday, December 4th at 2pm.
- The Knights are hosting a pancake breakfast this Sunday, November 20th after Mass at St. Joseph’s.
- The St. Joseph’s WYD group is holding a clothing drive. Gently used clothing items can be dropped off in the parish hall repository.
Peace-
Karen Davidson
