News Blast & Bulletin 11/06/2022

32nd Sunday in OT

Greetings!

Your bulletin: https://saintspeterpaulpalmyra.org/november-6th-2022/

Here are the highlights:

  • Remember to turn your clocks back one hour Saturday night as we head back into standard time.
  • Our Parish Eucharistic Revival Mission: The Joy of the Eucharist in the Life of the Church, takes place on November 17th – 19th starting at 7pm, headed by guest speaker Ted Musco, from the Archdiocese of New York, features talks on the Eucharist and transformation in Christ, the Eucharist and Conversion, and the Eucharist as food for the Journey. The vision of the mission is to inspire a movement of Catholics across the US who are healed, converted, formed, and unified by an encounter with Jesus in the Eucharist – and who are then sent out on mission “for the life of the world”. There will also be 12 hours of adoration from the 18th-19th beginning at 8pm in the church. Please join us!
  • Happy Face is collecting donations now through Christ the King, November 20th. Your donations help provide gifts and goodies for the disadvantaged, who would otherwise have nothing this Christmas season.
  • The Knights are collecting unwrapped, unisex gifts for kids, ages 0 – 12 years of age. Please leave your gifts under the Knights table in the Commons.
  • The Angel tree will be up next weekend. We have 14 children and 2 seniors who will have nothing without your help. We ask that you prayerfully consider granting their wish this year. Please return gifts wrapped, with tag attached by December 12th. Please provide as little or as much of their wish list as you feel appropriate. The tag has all of the information that was provided to the office.
  • Evelyn’s $ for the Girl Child is collecting new items for babies and their young mothers in Uganda. You will find tags on the Angel tree (bright green) of items in need. Please return these unwrapped and place in the baskets beside the Angel tree (coming next week).
  • OPEN POSITION – Sts. Peter and Paul is in need of a Coordinator of Religious Education & Youth Ministry. (p. 4)
  • The last 40 Days for Life vigil was November 2nd. Thank you to the four men, George Kuhlow, Frank Feliciano, Bob Toepfert, and John Condon, who sacrificed their time and stood vigil for one hour in front of Planned Parenthood for the last 6 Wednesdays. God bless you!
  • New USHERS are needed at both Masses. This is an excellent way to serve. Contact Frank Pilk if you are interested (571.239.3373).
  • The CRAFTERS are back, hard at work, creating great trinkets and treasures for the November Craft Fair. They need your help for the Bake Sale: please bake or buy a cake, pie, cookies, brownies, etc. and drop off your goodies on Friday, November 11 before 5pm, or Saturday, November 12th before 10am.
    • St. Gabriel’s room is NOT available from now until after the Craft Fair. Please feel free to take your child to the Lounge if need arises.
  • Don’t forget the Chili Cook-Off Sunday, November 6th from 2 – 4pm in the Hall. Samples will be available for judging so we can crown a Master.
  • Did you miss the opportunity to learn about DISC golf earlier this summer? There’s another chance to learn about the game on Nov. 6th at 2:30pm and Nov. 20th at 2:30pm. Talk to Joe Amato if you have any questions, otherwise, just show up at Pleasant Grove park (not the dog park) behind the playground. (p. 9)
  • Craft Fair – Nov. 12th from 8am – 2pm. Volunteers are needed to help set up beginning on Monday, November 7th and again on Saturday, November 12th to take down. Contact Cynthia Aycock (434.996.6065) if you’re able to help. (p. 9)
  • Thanksgiving Dinner will be offered this year on Thanksgiving Day at 3pm in St. Francis. If you are by yourself or don’t have any plans, plan on coming to dinner at church. We do ask that you bring a side or dessert to share (please let us know what you are bringing); the turkey, stuffing, gravy, and cranberries will be provided. We need a count of how many plan to attend so please sign up on the sheet on the kitchen door in the Commons. Donations towards the purchase of turkeys are gladly accepted; there is a donation box in the Commons. (p. 9)
  • If you are in either building after normal business hours, please, please, please, be sure to:
    • NOT prop doors open (we cannot afford to heat/cool the outside).
    • turn lights/ceiling fans off (even if you didn’t turn them on)
    • turn off/unplug the portable heater/fan (chapel users only)
    • turn around and make sure the outermost doors have completely closed behind you. (Yank on the door to make sure it doesn’t open.) **This continues to be a problem.
    • Thank you for your assistance in this matter.

  • The next MASS IN SPANISH is this Sunday, November 6th at 2pm.
  • St. Joseph’s will have a baked goods table at the SPP Craft Fair this year. Please consider baking your favorite pie, cake, cookies, or anything else for our table. All proceeds from these sales goes directly to St. Joseph. (p. 11)
  • The Knights are hosting a pancake breakfast Sunday, November 20th after Mass at St. Joseph’s.
  • The St. Joseph’s WYD group is holding a clothing drive. Gently used clothing items can be dropped off in the parish hall repository.

Peace-
Karen Davidson
