28th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Greetings!

Your bulletin: https://saintspeterpaulpalmyra.org/october-15th-2023/

Here are the highlights:

  • With deep sorrow I announce the passing of Sr. Madrine’s brother, Edrine Bayizzi. Sr. Madrine has flown home to be with family during this time. Please keep her and her family in your prayers and pray for the repose of Edrine’s soul.
  • The Music Ministry Mass that was scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, October 14th at 10am has been CANCELED. This Mass will be merged with the Mass for Liturgical/worship Ministries on Saturday, October 28th at 10am.
  • Sts. Peter and Paul is seeking a part-time Director of Music as Sid gets ready to retire. See page 8 of today’s bulletin to find out more.
  • There is a Parish Clean-up day on Saturday, October 21st, from 9am – 3pm. We are concentrating on pulling weeds, trimming trees and shrubs, and spreading mulch. Please join in all day or even just an hour or two. Many hands make light work. Bring gloves, wheel barrows, and various yard tools to help with these tasks. Food/water will be available.
  • Our Rosary and Bonfire night returns on Saturday, October 28th after Mass. Food will be provided. You will need to bring your rosary, a chair, a blanket (last year was a little chilly), and maybe some gloves.
  • 40 Days for Life has kicked off their Fall campaign. If you would like to gather from 10-11am in peaceful protest in front of Planned Parenthood with other parishioners, they meet at Jefferson Pharmacy at 9am on Wednesdays through the month of October to carpool. If you like to drive yourself, there is ample parking nearby.
  • CHIU is in need of someone who can craft a shipping crate in order to send their medical supplies to Uganda ahead of their mission in January. Please contact Bob Maher at 434.589.1170 for details on size and when it needs to be completed.
  • The Youth Group Movie Night has moved to Wednesday. October 18th at 5pm.
  • The Craft Fair is coming, Saturday, November 11 from 8a-2p. The Crafters will start selling raffle tickets this weekend-they have an adorable doll house they have fixed up that makes me want to be 5 years old again! Plus, other baskets to raffle as well. Help is needed (moving tables) to set up (11/5) and take down (11/11) the craft fair. Please contact Cynthia (her number is inside the cover of the bulletin) if you are able to help.
  • Coming to St. Francis Hall: “The Letter: A Message for Our Earth”, an inspiring film about Pope Francis’ call to all of us to care for God’s creation. Two showings: Tuesday, October 17th at 7:00pm and Wednesday, October 18th at 10:00am. See p. 5.
  • The next Senior Coffee Social is on Wednesday, October 25th at 10am in the Commons.
  • A Catholic Store is coming to Sts. Peter and Paul. Be looking for more information to come.
  • If you have a business and want to get the word out about it to help it grow, there is advertising space on the back of the bulletin. Contact Wendy Bond at 800.950.9952 x6420 for information.
  • October 22nd is World Mission Sunday. There will be a second collection that weekend to help support World Missions.

St. Joseph’s News:

  • An Art Contest for the Ages: Judging and awards will be announced October 15th.
  • 140th Anniversary continues: Join us on Sunday, November 5th after Mass for a walk to Camp Wakeham. There we will pray the Rosary for the souls buried there, as part of the Octave of All Saints.

Blessings for a beautiful weekend!
