16th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Greetings:

Your bulletin: https://saintspeterpaulpalmyra.org/july-21st-2024/

Here are the highlights for the upcoming week and beyond:

  • This weekend, our 2nd collection is for CASH RESERVE. Your donation will help fund the repair that is needed for the Chapel (roughly $25,000 and currently we have just over half of that). Any help is truly a blessing.
  • Christmas in July is back. Please see page 9 for details on approved gift items for the Fluvanna Correctional Center for Women. The donation box is in the entrance to the church.
  • There will be a Catechist Gathering for those returning catechists, new catechists, or those who are interested in helping our younger parishioners grow in their faith, on Saturday, July 27th from 9-12, hosted at Sts. Peter and Paul. Catechists, assistant catechist and helpers are needed for the upcoming year and this is the perfect opportunity to get your foot in the door.
  • Come eat at IHOP on Sunday, July 28th from 4pm – 7pm for a CHIU fundraiser. Let them know when you order that you are there for CHIU and 20% goes to CHIU. You can order it to-go as well.
  • There will NOT be a monthly bake sale for August. We are looking for bakers and parishioners to help with sales on the first full weekend of every month. Please contact Sue Scott (434.591.1205) if you are able to help. Remember, the funds go to provide assistance in the community.
  • Chesterton Academy, Charlottesville’s new Catholic high school, is holding an open house on Sunday, August 4th from 12 – 2pm (this is an update). Applications are still being accepted for the upcoming school year. It is located across from Holy Comforter at 256 E High St. Please RSVP to ChestertonSJE.org/events.
  • The next Senior Coffee Social is Wednesday, July 31st at 10am in the Commons. We will have at least one guest speaker who made the pilgrimage to the Eucharistic Revival.
  • Faith and Family Fun Day for both parishes will take place on Saturday, August 17th from 9am – 12pm at Sts. Peter and Paul. We will have prayer, family activities, and games to keep you engaged. This event is for the young and old alike! Please bring a snack to share.
  • The Chapel remains closed as we wait for repair estimates from 2 companies. You are welcome to adore in the church, where the Blessed Sacrament is present.
  • CHIU Golf Tournament at Spring Creek has been canceled due to lack of interest.
  • Save the Date: for our Parish Trip to France to kick off our yearlong celebration of our 40th anniversary
    • April 24 till May 4, 2025
    • Additional details can be found on the Parish Council board in the Commons
  • Sts. Peter and Paul Religious Store is open before/after Mass on Saturdays and after Mass on Sundays. The store is having Christmas in July; all month long you can get 20% off your purchase. You can contact the store via email at [email protected].
  • If you have misplaced any items in the church, come see Karen in the office; it’s where many lost things go.
  • If you have recently changed your email address or phone number or signed up for Faith Direct and no longer need envelopes, please send a note to the office so we can update the system and make sure you don’t miss out on any information we have to share with you.
