Here are the highlights:

  • Mary Callaghan’s funeral Mass will be on Friday, July 22nd at 4pm. She will be interred at Monticello Memorial Gardens on Saturday, July 23rd after a graveside service at 10am.
  • Tom Miglas’ funeral Mass will be on Saturday, July 30th at 11am (with visitation at 10am).
  • Our youth will have a CAR WASH on Saturday, July 23rd from 8:30a – 12:30p in the parking lot. Funds raised will go to help our youth who are attending World Youth Day in Lisbon, Portugal next year. (p. 4 & 11)
  • Buildings and Grounds is seeking donations of salt to be used for weed control around the grounds (they have gone wild). Donations can be dropped off at the office during the week or in the entrance of the church on the weekend. (p. 9)
  • Christmas in July is going on now-the Prison Ministry is seeking donations for the Fluvanna Correctional Center for Women. You can drop off items in the bag in the front entrance. (p. 9)
    • Approved Hygiene Items (Only full-sized, not travel size.) Items can be placed in gallon-sized zip lock bags.
      • One individually wrapped toothbrush
      • One tube of toothpaste not to exceed 6 oz.
      • One deodorant stick (no spray or roll-on) not to exceed 2.4 oz.
    • Approved Greeting Cards & Stationary Items:
      • Greeting cards for all occasions, including Christmas and Hanukkah
      • Stationery items (envelopes, writing paper)
      • Postage stamps (please donate the Forever type)
      • One wooden pencil (unsharpened)
  • New USHERS are needed at both Masses. This is an excellent way to serve. Contact Frank Pilk if you are interested (571.239.3373).
  • Correction – there will not be a Finance Council meeting next week as stated in the bulletin (p. 7). The meeting will be in mid-August.
  • The Crafters are back, getting ready for another Craft Fair in November. They meet on Thursdays in Michael’s room from 9:30am – 2:30p. Anyone may join.
  • New Parish Council Members – we welcome Duffy Dillinger, Catherine Heffley, and Anita Paul to the council. Your desire to serve is greatly appreciated. (p. 8)
  • “Exploring the Eucharist” Exhibit is now open. It will continue through November in the Invitation Room (formerly St. Raphael’s room). Please stop in and deepen your love for Jesus in the Eucharist. (p. 8)
  • Disc Golf is this weekend – July 16th and July 23rd at Pleasant Grove Park (not the dog park) at 8:30am. (p. 9)
  • The annual Golf Tournament is Sunday, September 11, 2022 with registration starting at noon and a 1pm Shotgun start. The price is $75. Contact Cynthia with any questions or if you’d like to volunteer. (p. 9)
  • As we gear up for the next year of Religious Education, we need help from you; can you be a catechist, a classroom aide, or even a substitute? Please contact Doug Mullinex if you are able to help guide our youth on the faith journey (434.981.6950).
  • If you are in either building after normal business hours, please, please, please, be sure to:
    • NOT prop doors open (we cannot afford to heat/cool the outside).
    • turn lights/ceiling fans off (even if you didn’t turn them on)
    • turn off/unplug the portable heater/fan (chapel users only)
    • turn around and make sure the outermost doors have completely closed behind you. (Yank on the door to make sure it doesn’t open.)
    • Thank you for your assistance in this matter.
  • Reminder –Father David will be on retreat next week (July 18 – 21) so Communion Service will be offered on Wednesday and Thursday at SPP, no Mass at SJ. (p. 7)
