Here are the highlights for the upcoming week and beyond:
Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church:
- We are still trying to reach our goal for the Diocesan Annual Appeal. If you haven’t supported the appeal yet, it is not too late. If you need an envelope, stop by the parish office or check your pew this weekend.
- Our Senior Coffee is two years strong. Join us on June 11th to hear Forney Shell, local author and travel agent, will return to speak on Wednesday, June 11th at 10 AM. Hear about his newly completed book and how he continues to make the “4th Quarter of his Life” count. On June 25th we will hear from Cynthia Nicholson, who will tell us more about HER experiences on the recent parish pilgrimage to Lourdes.
- Please keep the good works of LifeSpring Pregnancy Center in your prayers. They provide adoption support, after-abortion support, childbirth prep classes, men’s program, mentorship, on-site ultrasound service, parenting classes, pregnancy testing and much more. For more information call 434-220-3770 (Mon.-Thurs. 10-5 and Friday 10-2)
- Adoration is always looking for people who want to spend time with Jesus. If you are interested in scheduling some time for adoration, contact Denise Minor by email at [email protected] and you can call or text her at 434-981-5510.
- Your help is needed: Volunteer Drivers for Good Shepherd Ministry. Extend a hand and make a difference. The Good Shepherd Ministry is seeking kind-hearted individuals to step forward and help in a meaningful way. We need volunteers who can occasionally assist with driving fellow Parishioners, who are unable to drive, to their medical appointments. This small service can have a profound impact on someone’s life. If you want to learn more and think you can help, please call the office (434-589-5201).
- If you have recently changed your email address or phone number or signed up for GiveCentral and no longer need envelopes, please send a note to the office so we can update the system and make sure you don’t miss out on any information we have to share with you.

40th ANNIVERSARY

- There are 7 40th Anniversary raffle tickets left! Tickets can be purchased after each Mass, online through GiveCentral, or at the parish office. $1,500 could be yours soon.
- Be first to order your stylish Sts. Peter and Paul monogrammed shirt in celebration of our 40th anniversary. Orders can be placed at our own religious store.
- Submit your favorite recipes now for the Sts. Peter and Paul 40th Anniversary Cookbook. Directions and online submittal forms can be found online and the parish website. Paper forms are located in the parish office.
- Thank you Cathy Good. Cathy is leading our Parish Mission and it has been so worthwhile. We are filled with gratitude.
What is Ignatian Spirituality?
Finding God in All Things
Ignatian spirituality emphasizes finding God in all things.
It is a spirituality for busy people with hectic lives, who cultivate the spiritual disciplines of reflecting on their days and noticing where God was present — and where God is leading.
Ignatian spirituality is rooted in the belief that God created the world and it is good. Wherever we find goodness, truth, and beauty, God is there. We should strive to pay attention to the goodness in the world around us, and to recognize the face of God in those things. The goal is to become more aware of the love of God in our lives, so that we deepen our friendship with Jesus.
The basic tenets of Ignatian spirituality come from St. Ignatius Loyola (1491-1556), who wrote down notes about his prayer and the internal changes he noticed as he began to develop his own friendship with Jesus. Those notes became The Spiritual Exercises, which have been “made” (Jesuits typically say they “make the Exercises”), discussed, taught, and written about for five centuries.
St. Joseph’s Shrine of Katherine of Drexel Catholic Church:
- Good News! St. Joseph’s office is open and staffed by volunteers. The office will be open from 3-5pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. They also have a phone number: 434-842-3970.

Both Saints Peter and Paul and Saint Joseph:
- Vacation Bible School starts this week. If you told Celeste will run from June 9-13, 6-8 PM at St. Joseph. We are in need of volunteers and donations. Thank you for your continued generosity throughout the year! For VBS, we are requesting specific items. Celeste has created cards listing each needed item – please take a card, purchase the item, and return it to the collection box in the hall/commons.
- We are looking ahead to next year and need catechists and volunteers for both CCD and the Youth Group. We would love to launch a preschool CCD class for three-and-four-year-olds, but we need volunteers for it to happen.
- There’s also an interest in offering more activities for our youth and splitting the Youth Group into an elementary and a middle/high school group. We can’t do this alone.
