News Blast & Bulletin 04/30/2023

Easter Greetings!

Your bulletin: https://saintspeterpaulpalmyra.org/april-30th-2023/

Here are the highlights:

  • Thank you to those who came out for Earth Day. In the 2 hours before the rain came we were able to put in new plantings, remove some weeds, put some mulch down and trim some shrubs and trees. There is still so much to do and hopefully we’ll get another work day in during the cooler months in the fall.
  • Youth Group: Sr. Madrine would like to inform all parents with children aged 12 years and older that we are going to resume the youth group activities. We will have a youth Mass which will take place on April 30th at 11:00AM, which will be our kick-off project. The next practice will be held during CCD class on the 30th. If your children are in this age group, please plan on bringing them to this class.
  • The last class for CCD and Adult Formation is April 30th.
  • Vacation Bible School for preK4-5th grade will be available this year at Sts. Peter and Paul from June 19th – 22nd from 6-8PM in the hall.
  • International Night Dinner and Parish Bonfire is this Saturday, April 29th at 6pm, right after Saturday Mass. Be thinking about what international dish you’d like to share or just make a donation at the door. A sign up sheet is available on the kitchen door in the Commons (to let us know what dish you are bringing) or use the QR code here. There will be a Silent Auction and various raffles, along with music and a children’s dessert contest and our parish bonfire. Don’t miss what is sure to be a fun evening.
  • Are you thinking ahead to Mother’s Day (May 14th)? We are having a flower sale on Mother’s Day to raise funds for our youth group activities. You’ll be able to get a single flower for $5 or a bouquet of 3 for $10. Thank you for supporting our youth.
  • Sts. Peter and Paul now has a weekly YOGA class on Tuesdays from 11-12 in the Hall. Direct questions to Renata Miller at 757.536.8408 or email [email protected].
  • Opera Night is coming! Friday, May 12th at 6:30pm at Sts. Peter and Paul – Tosca. A sign-up sheet is in the Commons on the board beside the Knights’ table.
  • The parish Yard Sale begins with set-up starting on Sunday, June 4th, and continuing through the week. The event takes place on Friday and Saturday, June 9th and 10th. Please contact Cynthia Aycock if you are able to help.
  • Joan Hansen’s Funeral Mass will be on Thursday, June 29 at 11am. There will NOT be a 9am Mass that day due to the funeral.
  • Our monthly BAKE SALE returns next weekend, May 6th and 7th after both Masses.
  • The office will be closed on Tuesday (05/02) except for Yoga.

  • Youth Group: Sr. Madrine would like to inform all parents with children aged 12 years and older that we are going to resume the youth group activities. We will have a youth Mass which will take place on April 30th, which will be our kick-off project. We will practice on the 30th during CCD. If your children are in this age group, please plan on bringing them to these sessions.
  • Our next activity in recognition of our 140th anniversary is May 21st – Children’s Mass at 9:00am.

“Jesus our Shepherd, inspire us daily to hear your summons, recognize your voice, and follow you. With you as our guide, may we find comfort and peace wherever we go and whatever we do.”

Rejoice, and be glad!

-Peace-
