5th Sunday of Lent

Here are the highlights:

  • This Saturday we celebrate the solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord at 10am.
  • The schedule of activities during Holy Week are included above.
  • Youth Group: Sr. Madrine would like to inform all parents with children aged 12 years and older that we are going to resume the youth group activities. We will have a youth Mass which will take place on April 23rd which will be our kick-off project. We will meet from 2 – 4pm spanning several Saturdays (3/25, 4/15, and 4/22). If your children are in this age group, please plan on bringing them to these sessions. Thank you.
  • Lenten Lunches have returned this Lenten season, in the Commons, after Stations of the Cross at noon. We can’t do it without your help! There is a sign-up sheet on the kitchen door in the Commons for those willing to contribute soup or sandwiches. Please fill in your name/phone #/what kind of soup or sandwich you’ll be bringing. Friday, March 31st is the last opportunity to join us for a simple Lenten Lunch this year. Thank you in advance.
  • Fish Fry-days: Times are as follows: Drive-thru only from 4:30-5:30pm; dine-in and drive-thru 5:30 – 7:00pm. Doug Mullinex at 434.981.6950 with questions. Your dessert donations have been fabulous! Please keep ‘em coming. Just one more week.
  • This year we work to rebuild the Cash Reserve fund through the Lenten Coin Can program. If you took a can, please plan on returning it this weekend, March 25 and 26. There is a box at the baptism font for you to deposit your can. Thank you for your sacrifice this Lenten season!
  • Mass on Tuesdays during Lent (through April 4) are celebrated at Noon.
  • LAST CHANCE! The Spring campaign for 40 Days for Life has just one Tuesday (March 28) remaining. Sts. Peter and Paul has committed to vigil hours on Tuesdays from 10 – 11am in front of Planned Parenthood (2964 Hydraulic Road). A group of parishioners meets in front of Jefferson Pharmacy and departs promptly at 9 am. Anyone wishing to drive themselves can find ample parking across the street behind the Baptist church. These vigils are non-confrontational and meant solely to pray peacefully for the unborn.
  • International Night Dinner is right around the corner on Saturday, April 29th at 6pm, right after Saturday Mass. Be thinking about what international dish you’d like to share. There will also be a Quilt Raffle and a Silent Auction. Don’t miss what is sure to be a fun evening.
  • Altar Server training for new servers coming in April! If your child is interested in assisting at Mass in an important way and has received their First Communion, please contact Nicole Amato at [email protected]. Date/time to be announced soon.
  • St. Vincent de Paul is coming to Sts. Peter and Paul. If you would like to be part of the Society please email [email protected].
  • Our monthly Bake Sale returns next weekend. We are always happy to accept donations of your favorite baked goodies before Mass. Thank you always for your support. Funds raised go to help those in need.
  • De Colores! – the next women’s Cursillo weekend, “Blessed, Broken, and Shared,” is May 18-21 in Massanetta Springs. Application deadline is April 26th.
  • Sts. Peter and Paul now has a weekly YOGA class on Tuesdays from 11-12 in the Hall. Direct questions to Renata Miller at 757.536.8408 or email [email protected].

  • If you took a Lenten Coin Can, thank you for your sacrifice and return your can this weekend. The drop box is in the Parish Hall on the table outside of the kitchen.
  • Friday Soup & Stations of the Cross: Join us for a potluck soup dinner starting at 5:30pm followed by parishioner-led Stations of the Cross at 6:30pm. Feel free to bring soup, bread, or other meatless dishes, or come just for Stations. Contact Will Kulick for more info.
