Here are the highlights for the upcoming week and beyond:
- It is with deep regret that we are announcing that Jim Cullinan passed away on Tuesday. His funeral will be tomorrow, Saturday, March 22 at 10 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul. - Penance Service is scheduled for 7 pm on Tuesday, March 25.
- If you have a specific prayer request and would like to have Fr. David carry it to Lourdes, France, please bring it to the Parish office.
- Lenten Lunches are offer on Fridays, after Stations of the Cross at noon, in the Commons. Please sign up to bring soup or sandwiches for this event.
- Lenten Fish Frys are underway. Drive thru starts at 4:30 and dine-in begins at 5 pm.
- The 20% off Book Sale at Saint’s Peter and Paul Religious Store is open before and after Mass on Saturdays and after Mass on Sundays.
- The 40th Anniversary planning committee is selling 100 raffle tickets after mass and at the Fish Frys to support the 40th Anniversary activities. Tickets are $50 with a grand prize of $1,500. Feel free to come to the office and purchase your ticket as well. If you would like to purchase your tickets through Give Central, contact the office and they will send you a link.
- We hope you are planning to start giving through Give Central and if you need help, please contact the office and they can help get you started. The website is givecentral.org. ?campId=11270 The office can also help you cancel Faith Direct if you haven’t done so already.
- Senior Coffee Social has its regular meeting this month at 10 a. on March 26th at 10 am in the Commons. Many thanks to Bob Maher and Jamie Hicks who presented their experiences of their work in Uganda.
- The Confirmation Retreat will be from 9 am to 12 noon at St. Joseph’s. All students preparing for this sacrament this year must attend.
- We are in need of pre-filled Easter Eggs until March 30. There is a box to place them in the back of the Commons.
- 40 Days for Life – Join us for an hour of peaceful and prayerful presence each Wednesday until April 9, 2025. Saints Peter and Paul Knights of Columbus Council #11475 invites any and all parishioners to join us on Wednesday, From 10 to 11 am. We maintain a vigil and pray in front of Planned Parenthood (2964 Hydraulic Rd.) in Charlottesville during that same hour, each Wednesday. Mark your calendar for the remaining days of March 26, April 2 and 9. For carpool information or directions, call Larry Boice, 434-510-7677. There is ample parking across the street from the site, those who choose to meet us there. If you cannot physically join us, please pray to end abortion, wherever you happen to be!
- Lenten Spare Change Cans are available to collect loose change. Your generosity will go help those in need this year. Pick one up, fill it up! Turn cans in April 5 – 13.
- Save the date! The Talent Show for Uganda to benefit Chiu. All proceeds will be used to support Uganda and the next medical mission in January 2026 at St. Francis of Assisi at Kitakyusa. The Talent Show will take place on Sunday, June 22nd at 2 pm at our Parish Hall. For more information contact Bob Maher at [email protected] for call 589-1170.
- The Fluvanna food bank has three open positions, one for a driver and two for the new thrift store. It is open to people 55 and older and they are part-time positions, about 20 hours a week and is funded by goodwill. If you or someone you know is interested and wants some additional income, contact Keith McKinell at 434-987-9887.
- What do Good Shepherds, Ushers and the Alter Servers ministries all have in common? They all need help. If you want to learn more and think you can help, please call the office (434-589-5201) for more info.
- If you have misplaced any items in the church, come see Colleen in the office. It is where many lost things go.
- If you have recently changed your email address or phone number or signed up for Give Central and no longer need envelopes, please send a note to the office so we can update the system and make sure you don’t miss out on any information we have to share with you.
St. Joseph’s News:
- Penance Service is scheduled for March 25th at 7 pm at Saints Peter and Paul Church.
- If you have a specific prayer request and would like to have Father David carry it to Lourdes, France, give it to Father David or leave it in the new parish office during office hours.
- We will have a Soup Supper at 6 pm followed by Stations at 6:30 on Fridays during Lent. On April 11 Soup and Stations will be in English and Espanol (multilingual).
- March 16th – Saints Peter and Paul will join St. Joseph’s for a combined Youth Mass followed by a pancake breakfast.
- On March 29th St. Joseph’s will host this year’s confirmation retreat from 9 am – 12 pm. All students preparing for the sacrament this year must attend.
- We are in need of prefilled Easter eggs this year. A box at the back of the church will be available until March 30th.
- On April 4 there will be Sopa & Estaciones de la Cruz en Espanol.
- The Saints Peter and Paul Religious Store 20% off Book Sale is underway and will end on March 30. Come buy a book!
Additional April Events – Save the date!
- April 12 – Reconciliation and First Holy Communion Retreat (9 – 12)
- April 20 – Easter Egg Hunts after the 9 am Mass and after the 11 am Mass at Saints Peter and Paul. All children 10 and younger are invited to hunt for eggs. No CCD classes this day.
- April 25 – Youth Group at Saints Peter and Paul from 6:30 pm until 8 pm. We will have a bonfire, S’mores, and play some outdoor games.
- April 30 is Confirmation at St. Thomas Aquinas at 7 pm.
