Greetings!

Your bulletin: https://saintspeterpaulpalmyra.org/february-26th-2023/

Here are the highlights:

  • Lenten Lunches return this Lenten season beginning today, February 24th in the Commons, after Stations of the Cross at noon. We can’t do it without your help! There is a sign-up sheet on the kitchen door in the Commons for those willing to contribute soup or sandwiches. Please fill in your name/phone #/what kind of soup or sandwich you’ll be bringing. Thank you in advance.
  • Fish Fry-days return this Lent on Friday, February 24th at 5:00pm. Indoor seating will be available this year as well as drive-thru. The cost remains at $13. Contact Doug Mullinex at 434.981.6950 with questions. Donations of desserts for these 6 weeks are greatly appreciated.
  • Lenten Coin cans are available at the entrance to the church. This year we will work to rebuild the Cash Reserve fund. Thank you for what you can do.
  • During the Lenten season, Mass will be celebrated on Tuesdays at Noon, beginning on February 28th.
  • Parish Lenten Penance Service is Tuesday, March 14th @7pm.
  • The Spring campaign for 40 Days for Life begins at the end of February. Sts. Peter and Paul has committed to vigil hours on Wednesdays, beginning March 1st from 10 – 11am in front of Planned Parenthood (2964 Hydraulic Road). A group of parishioners meet in front of Jefferson Pharmacy and depart promptly at 9 am. Anyone wishing to drive themselves can find ample parking across the street behind the Baptist church. These vigils are non-confrontational and meant solely to pray peacefully for the unborn.
  • To prepare for the Easter season Deacon Bob will conduct incense training for altar servers on Saturday, March 4th at 10am. Please be sure to attend if you missed the last one.
  • TABELLA is a free Catholic app that we will use to keep you up-to-date on events at both churches. Please pick up the flyer in the Commons that will walk you through loading the app to your Smartphone and making SPP or SJ your preferred parish.
  • In an ongoing effort, sneakers are being collected to benefit CHIU (Catholic Health Initiatives for Uganda). It doesn’t matter the condition but sneakers only, please.
  • De Colores! – the next women’s Cursillo weekend, “Blessed, Broken, and Shared,” is May 18-21 in Massanetta Springs. Application deadline is April 26th.
  • Sts. Peter and Paul now has a weekly YOGA class on Tuesdays from 11-12 in the Hall. Direct questions to Renata Miller at 757.536.8408 or email [email protected].
  • Calling all parishioners! The Welcoming Ministry needs you! Be a welcoming greeter at the front door before Mass on Saturday or Sunday. Be the smile that welcomes your fellow Catholics to Mass. Call Rose Meyer at 434.589.5018 or 434.989.9761.
  • Thank you to all who supported the World Youth Day Pilgrims by volunteering and/or attending this year’s Mardi Gras party! Over $1400 was raised.
  • The Annual Diocesan Appeal begins this weekend. Donating is as easy as scanning the QR code found here or in your pew. We, as a church, benefit from your donations. Last year we received over $3500 (between both churches) back from the diocese because of your generosity. Thank you and God bless.

  • St. Joseph is gearing up to celebrate 140 years beginning March 4th. We kick-off our celebration with Mass at 11am on Saturday, followed by a potluck luncheon and a brief talk covering the history of the parish and the various events planned throughout the year. If you have memories to share, please contact the office.
  • Thank you for attending and/or volunteering at the Mardi Gras party at SPP for the World Youth Day pilgrims! Over $1400 was raised.

“The time will come when the bridegroom will be taken from them; then they will fast.” Matthew 9:15
