6th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Greetings:

Your bulletin: https://saintspeterpaulpalmyra.org/february-13th-2022/

Here are the highlights:

  • The church is in need of your help. We have some trees that came down with the first snow storm in January and the debris needs to be moved to the woods. At least one of the trees still needs to be cut up and moved. If you are able-bodied and interested in helping get the trees cleaned up, we are planning a clean-up day tomorrow, Saturday, February 12th, beginning at 10am. Bring gloves and a snack/lunch. We will make sure that water is available. The more we have helping, the quicker it will go. Thank you.
  • Calling all prayer warriors: there is a Spring 40 Days for Life event beginning on March 8th – April 5th (Tuesdays) that you can participate in located in front of Planned Parenthood. If you’d like to carpool with others, meet at the Jefferson Pharmacy parking lot on Tuesday mornings at 8:30am.
  • Youth Group – the next event is GAME NIGHT on Friday, February 18th at SPP. (p. 4)
  • Sts. Peter and Paul is doing a new pictorial directory! We want everyone to get a new picture made so that our new directory will be complete. IT WON’T BE COMPLETE WITHOUT YOU! You can make your appointment at church on the sign-up sheets, or, you can click on the link below and make your appointment on-line. (If you are the head of a ministry or an employee, please make sure you schedule an appointment.) Please go ahead and do that now. (p. 9) Link: https://instant-scheduling.com/sch.php?kn=3534502&typId=63981&step=2. Photo dates are: MARCH 18 & 19, 2022. Sign-up weekends starting this weekend, February 12th & 13th, if you need assistance in this process.* This will be available before and after Masses in the Commons.
  • Synod meetings continue. The next meetings are Tuesday, Feb. 15th at 10:00am; Saturday, Feb. 19th at 10:00a; Sunday, Feb. 20th at 2:00p. Your input is very important. There is a sheet of Q & A compiled from previous meetings at the poster in the Commons.
  • The Annual Diocesan Appeal is coming up soon and some of you may have already started receiving information from the diocese. (p. 6)
  • The Knights of Columbus are busy planning for the return of Fish Fry-days during lent. First one is March 4th. If you are able to help during any or all the dates please contact Doug Mullinex at [email protected]. (p. 7)
  • If you are in either building after normal business hours, please, please, please, be sure to:
    • NOT prop doors open (we cannot afford to heat outside of the building).
    • turn lights off (even if you didn’t turn them on)
    • return the thermostat to its original setting (if you adjusted it)
    • turn off/unplug the portable heater (chapel users only)
    • turn around and make sure the outermost doors have completely closed behind you. (Yank on the door to make sure it doesn’t open.) There has been more than one occasion where these doors have been found to be not securely shut all the way.
    • Thank you for your assistance in this matter.
  • St. Joseph’s is hosting a Spaghetti Dinner on Saturday, March 5th at 6:30p in the Parish Hall. All donations will be used for an Eagle Scout project to beautify the Shrine of St. Katharine Drexel. All are invited.
  • Finally, the funeral for Pat Downs is on Thursday, February 17th at 11:00am.

*If you would like to volunteer to sign parishioners up before and after Mass please contact the office 434.589.5201 to let Karen know when you are available.

Peace
Karen Davidson
