5th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Greetings!
Your bulletin: https://saintspeterpaulpalmyra.org/february-5th-2023/
Here are the highlights:
- Welcome to our newly registered families! Four new families have registered in January and I will work on getting their information to the ministry heads where they have expressed interest. We hope you feel at home.
- The scammers are at it again, appearing as Fr. David via texts, asking for gift cards. Please do not respond to these texts.
- Any tax statements that were not picked up last weekend have been mailed to the address we have on file.
- The BAKE SALE is back this weekend. All proceeds go to Justice & Peace needs.
- Mark your calendars for Feb. 8 – 11, for a series of daily talks that will be offered at Sts. Peter & Paul in the Commons at 1:00pm. We will have various guest speakers providing beneficial information on a variety of “Sickness & Health” issues. There will be time for Q & A. Fr. David will celebrate Mass on Feb. 11 at 10am with anointing of the sick, followed by brunch and then more talks. We’re excited to say that a few of the speakers are parishioners of Sts. P & P. If you can provide some brunch type food or help with set-up and/or serving, please contact Catherine Heffley at [email protected].
- Save the date: February 18, 2023 at 6:30pm at Sts. Peter & Paul for a Mardi Gras bash! Keep your eyes open for further info. Tickets are on sale after Masses this weekend.
- Teen – $5
- Adult – $10
- Family – $25
- Sts. Peter and Paul has been awarded the Fuel & Hunger grant in the amount of $3000 to help those in need this year. This will go a long way to help meet the needs of those asking for help with rent, utilities, food, or gas.
- Calling all parishioners! The Welcoming Ministry needs you! Be a welcoming greeter at the front door before Mass on Saturday or Sunday. You can choose to do it one time or a few times a year. You CHOOSE the Date! We would especially like to see couples and families, men and women. Be the smile that welcomes your fellow Catholics to Mass. Call Rose Meyer at 434.589.5018 or 434.989.9761.
- Lenten Lunches will return this Lenten season beginning on Friday, February 24th at noon in the Commons. We can’t do it without your help! There is a sign-up sheet on the kitchen door in the Commons for those willing to contribute soup or sandwiches. Please fill in your name/phone #/what kind of soup or sandwich you’ll be bringing. Thank you in advance.
- Fish Fry-days return this Lent on Friday, February 24th at 5:30pm. Indoor seating will be available this year as well as drive-thru. If you are interested in helping, please contact Doug Mullinex at 434.981.6950. Many hands are needed to make this a success.
- TABELLA is a free Catholic app that we will use to keep you up-to-date on events at both churches. Please pick up the flyer in the Commons that will walk you through loading the app to your Smartphone and making SPP or SJ your preferred parish.
- In an ongoing effort, sneakers are being collected to benefit CHIU (Catholic Health Initiatives for Uganda). It doesn’t matter the condition. (p. 5)
- De Colores! – the next women’s Cursillo weekend, “Blessed, Broken, and Shared,” is May 18-21 in Massanetta Springs. Application deadline is April 26th.
- Parishioners of SPP and SJ are encouraged to spend time in the Adoration Chapel in the real presence of the Blessed Sacrament. Please contact Denise Minor for information ([email protected] or 434.981.5510).
- St. Joseph is gearing up to celebrate 140 years beginning March 3rd. If you have memories to share, please contact the office.
- The next WYD fundraiser event is on February 18, 2023 at 6:30pm for a Mardi Gras dance party at Sts. Peter and Paul. Tickets are available after Mass. More info to come.
- The Diocese has awarded St. Joseph’s the Fuel & Hunger grant in the amount of $750 to help those in need this year. Thank you Carroll Morse for your efforts to gain this grant.
-Peace-
