We all have heard the news that Father has been transferred to Christ the King in Norfolk, Virginia. As we process this information, we are wondering what we can do for Father that would be special. Father Joseph Mary told us about a wonderful family event that will occur in Uganda, where his nephew, Deacon Francis was going to be ordained a priest on August 9th, and of course, Father has already made plans to be at his ordination.
What is special about a priest in Uganda is that a priest is often the only person who has a car that is available to act as an ambulance when there is a need. A new priest needs to make sure that they can take care of their parish community in every possible way, even as an ambulance service if called upon.
A very special gift to Father David would be to provide assistance for his soon-to-be-ordained nephew as he launches his new life as an ordained priest, and help him purchase his car, a Toyota, so he can fully support his parish community. The total needed is $12,500 (US).
If you would like to help with this, please place your gift in an envelope in a special box located in the Gift Shop. A secondary box will be in the Parish office if that is convenient for a weekday drop off. Put Father David’s name on the envelope Checks can be made out to Father David (Rev. David M. Ssentamu) and he can take those funds with him when he attends his nephew’s ordination in August. Remember he will only be here through the month of June.
And, of course, we pray for Father David as he moves to Christ the King in Norfolk. They are blessed to have him.
Note: We hope you can attend the Parish Picnic (it is set up as an inside event due to heat and potential rain)

We are still trying to reach our goal for the Diocesan Annual Appeal. If you haven’t supported the appeal yet, it is not too late. If you need an envelope, stop by the parish office or check your pew this weekend.

Your help is needed: Volunteer Drivers for Good Shepherd Ministry. Extend a hand and make a difference. The Good Shepherd Ministry is seeking kind-hearted individuals to step forward and help in a meaningful way. We need volunteers who can occasionally assist with driving fellow Parishioners, who are unable to drive, to their medical appointments. This small service can have a profound impact on someone’s life. If you want to learn more and think you can help, please call the office (434-589-5201).
If you have recently changed your email address or phone number or signed up for GiveCentral and no longer need envelopes, please send a note to the office so we can update the system and make sure you don’t miss out on any information we have to share with you.

2025 Annual Diocesan Appeal: Sharing His Love with Others
A Message from Father David
Supporting the 2025 Annual Diocesan Appeal is about supporting important ministries of our Catholic Church. For example, did you know that the Appeal:
Expands opportunities for college students to deepen their commitment to the Catholic Church. Develops lay catechetical leaders by building theological understanding, shaping pastoral skills, and strengthening Catholic identity. Provides a variety of assistance to mission parishes such as funds for capital improvements, outreach ministries, and specific ministry costs.
If you have not yet made a commitment, I hope you will join me in helping to not only meet but exceed this year’s goal!
Please visit richmondcatholicfoundation.org/appeal to make a secure online donation or visit our parish office for a hard copy pledge card. Thank you for partnering with us on this important ministry of our Catholic Church.
St. Joseph’s Shrine of Katherine of Drexel Catholic Church:
Congratulations Saint Joseph for meeting your Diocesan Appeal goal!
Good News! St. Joseph’s office is open and staffed by volunteers. The office will be open from 3-5pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. They also have a phone number: 434-842-3970.
Remembrance Brick Project
We hope that you will be inspired to be a part of our newly renovated brick garden by adding your name or the name of a loved one to those of our community. We have priced these bricks to sell. Our goal is to fill up this newly renovated spot below the flagpole with the names of our community members, their loved ones, and our church family who is no longer with us. If you want to participate, please fill out the form, available at the Gift Shop or Parish Office with your payment. A standard 4 x 8 brick will cost $75 and an 8 x 8 brick will cost $150. Clip art is an additional $10 per brick We can submit brick orders when we have at least 5 bricks sold. Lets fill this up with names!
Both Saints Peter and Paul and Saint Joseph:
We are looking ahead to next year and need catechists and volunteers for both CCD and the Youth Group. We would love to launch a preschool CCD class for three-and-four-year-olds, but we need volunteers for it to happen.
There’s also an interest in offering more activities for our youth and splitting the Youth Group into an elementary and a middle/high school group. We can’t do this alone.
SAVE THE DATE — JULY 26
The Knights of Columbus are holding a 3oth Anniversary Council Dinner on July 26th to honor the five original members who still are parishioners here of the original 30 who formed the Council in 1965. This also will be the KoC annual awards dinner and the entire parish is invited. The cost is $10 per adult and $5 for children under 12. Sign-up sheets are in The Commons after every Mass. Join us for the celebration with these five special members.
