4th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Greetings:

Your bulletin: https://saintspeterpaulpalmyra.org/february-2nd-2025/

Here are the highlights for the upcoming week and beyond:

  • Wednesday daily Mass will be at 9:30 a.m. instead of 9:00 a.m. while Fr. David is away.
  • A second Bible Study group has begun. The focus is the Gospel of Luke. There are 2 opportunities to attend: Tuesday evenings from 6:30-7:30 at St. Joseph’s, and Wednesday afternoons from 4:00-5:00pm at Sts. Peter and Paul.
  • First Saturday Mass on February 1st is being offered for Carol Donohue and the family will be present. It is not a funeral Mass.
  • Our flower guild is now 5 strong but we need to expand to a minimum of 6 members; this allows for members to take time away and no one will have to serve more than once a month. This team will rotate on a weekly basis and concentrate their efforts on arranging flowers each week in the church. The time commitment is about an hour a week for one person, in most cases. Please contact the office at 434.589.5201.
  • The next 40th Anniversary Committee meeting will be on Monday, February 10th at 7 pm.
  • What do Good Shepherds, Ushers and the Altar Servers ministries all have in common? They all need help. If you want to learn more and think you can help, please call the office (434.589.5201) for more info.
  • Lenten Lunches will be offered on Fridays, after Stations of the Cross at noon, beginning March 7th in the Commons. Please sign up to bring soup or sandwiches during this event.
  • Senior Coffee Social is having a special meeting on Wednesday, February 12th to hear from Bob Maher. He will share his experience of his work in Uganda.
  • Sts. Peter and Paul Religious Store: The store has extended its 40% off sale on Christmas items for two more weeks. The store is open before/after Mass on Saturdays and after Mass on Sundays. You can contact the store via email at [email protected].
  • Now that winter weather has hit, please refer to CBS19 or NBC29 or our Facebook page for closings and cancellations.
  • Chesterton Academy Essay Competition: Deadline Extended to Feb. 7th. Have a current or rising high schooler? They are invited to compete for a $5,000 tuition credit at Chesterton Academy of St. John the Evangelist, the new classical high school in the Catholic tradition. To qualify, they must submit an enrollment application by Feb. 7th. The competition will be held on February 8th, 10-11:30 am. See the Chesterton website for details and to schedule a tour or shadow day. Link:ChestertonSJE.org.
  • If you have misplaced any items in the church, come see Colleen in the office; it’s where many lost things go.
  • If you have recently changed your email address or phone number or signed up for Faith Direct and no longer need envelopes, please send a note to the office so we can update the system and make sure you don’t miss out on any information we have to share with you.

St. Joseph’s News:
