27th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Greetings:

Your bulletin: https://saintspeterpaulpalmyra.org/october-6th-2024/

Here are the highlights for the upcoming week and beyond:

  • Our Chapel reopened today! Thank you for your patience and support! Since the beginning of August more than $26,100 has come in to help with these repairs. Thank you for what you continue to do! If you are interested in scheduling a regular hour to spend with the Blessed Sacrament M – F, 6am – 7pm, please contact Denise Minor at [email protected]. (Her email is incorrect in this week’s bulletin.)
  • October is RESPECT LIFE MONTH. Sunday, October 6 is Respect Life Sunday and we will have a special Rose Ceremony at all Masses this weekend.
  • During the month of October, you are invited to show your love for our Blessed Mother, Mary, by leaving flowers on the table placed at her feet. There are vases set aside in the kitchen for this purpose.
  • Our flower guild is 2 parishioners strong but we need to expand it to a minimum of 6. This team will rotate on a weekly basis and concentrate their efforts on arranging flowers each week in the church. The time commitment is less than an hour a week for one person, in most cases. Please see page 6 in the bulletin or contact the office at 434.589.5201.
  • Blessing of the Animals will take place on Saturday, October 5th at 11am at the front circle. Bring your pet for a blessing to mark the Memorial of St. Francis of Assisi.
  • Come to lunch! Catholic Health Initiatives for Uganda (CHIU) is having a BBQ Lunch (with all the fixins) on Sunday, October 6th at 12:30pm in the Parish Hall. Tickets are $15/adult; $10/kids 7-12; free for kids 6 & under.
  • You are invited to a special Monday Mass and Rosary (10/7) to celebrate Our Lady of the Rosary. The Rosary will be at 11:30am at the Our Lady of Guadalupe grotto (weather permitting) and Mass will be at noon.
  • The next Youth Group event is a Trunk or Treat on Friday, October 25th at 6:30pm at Sts. Peter and Paul. If you would like to decorate your trunk (as a scene from the Bible or something faith-based) and hand out treats, please sign up, or if you would like to donate treats, please place them in the collection box in the Commons beginning Oct. 5th. We are also in need of volunteers to prepare and serve refreshments on the evening of the 25th. We will pray the Rosary around the bonfire and roast marshmallows for S’mores. Children are asked to dress up in family-friendly costumes: nothing violent or horror-based, no weapons. Contact Celeste at [email protected] with questions, or to volunteer. The final planning meeting for this event is on Tuesday, October 22nd at 6:30pm (SPP).
  • 40 Days for Life Fall Campaign: The Knights will stand vigil on Wednesdays (9/25 – 10/30) from 10-11am in front of Planned Parenthood (2964 Hydraulic Road) in Charlottesville. For carpool info or directions contact Larry Boice (434.510.7677). There is ample parking across the street from Planned Parenthood if you want to drive yourself.
  • What do Good Shepherds, Ushers and the Bake Sale ministries all have in common? They all need help. If you want to learn more and think you can help, please call the office (434.589.5201) for more info.
  • Sts. Peter and Paul Religious Store is open before/after Mass on Saturdays and after Mass on Sundays. You can contact the store via email at [email protected]. During October, make a minimum $20 purchase and receive a free Rosary.
  • If you have misplaced any items in the church, come see Karen in the office; it’s where many lost things go.
  • If you have recently changed your email address or phone number or signed up for Faith Direct and no longer need envelopes, please send a note to the office so we can update the system and make sure you don’t miss out on any information we have to share with you.
