Here are the highlights for the upcoming week and beyond:
- The office will only be open from 9 – 1pm on Mondays for the remainder of September.
- We have a 2nd collection this weekend to benefit the Religious Ed program.
- Thank you for the amazing response to the water damage appeal. Since the beginning of August more than $24,300 has come in to help with these repairs. Thank you for what you can do!
- A representative from Albas Tours will be here after Mass this Sunday, September 15th to talk about and answer questions about the planned parish trip to France next spring.
- April 24 til May 4, 2025

- Brunch will be offered
- Our Religious Store is hosting a book signing by parishioner Theresa Welham, this weekend after both Masses. Her book is a guided Christian meditation for children entitled A Walk to Dreamland.
- We are looking to start a flower guild to help with arranging flowers each week in the church. Please see page 6 in the bulletin or contact the office at 434.589.5201.
- The next Youth Group event is a Trunk or Treat on Friday, October 25th at 6:30pm at Sts. Peter and Paul. There is another planning meeting on Tuesday, October 1st at 6:30pm (SPP).
- The Knights of Columbus have 2 open seats at their table at the Life Spring annual banquet in Charlottesville on Friday, September 20th. If you are interested in attending, please contact Bob Maher at 434.589.1170.
- 40 Days for Life Fall Campaign: The Knights will stand vigil on Wednesdays (9/25 – 11/23) from 10-11am in front of Planned Parenthood in Charlottesville. If you want to participate in this peaceful demonstration, meet at Jefferson Pharmacy at 9am for carpooling. There is ample parking across the street from Planned Parenthood if you want to drive yourself. Contact Larry Boice (434.510.7677) for more information.
- Sunday, October 6 is Respect Life Sunday and October is Respect Life Month.
- The next Sr. Coffee Social is on Wednesday, September 25 at 10am in the Commons. Forney Shell will visit again, this time talking about “Having a Successful Life: No Permission Necessary.”
- CHIU is having a PIG ROAST on Sunday, October 6th at 12:30pm in the Parish Hall. Tickets are $15/adult; $10/kids 7-12; free/kids 6 & under.
- What do Good Shepherds, Ushers and the Bake Sale ministries all have in common? They all need help. If you want to learn more and think you can help, please call the office (434.589.5201) for more info.
- The Chapel remains closed at this time. Progress is being made but there is still work to be done. Carpeting should be replaced in 2 weeks. Thank you for your patience. You are welcome to adore in the church, where the Blessed Sacrament is present.
- Sts. Peter and Paul Religious Store is open before/after Mass on Saturdays and after Mass on Sundays. You can contact the store via email at [email protected].
- If you have misplaced any items in the church, come see Karen in the office; it’s where many lost things go.
- If you have recently changed your email address or phone number or signed up for Faith Direct and no longer need envelopes, please send a note to the office so we can update the system and make sure you don’t miss out on any information we have to share with you.
St. Joseph’s News:
- We will have a Ministry Fair on Sunday, September 29th after Mass. Please stop by and see where you might be able to help. Some key areas in need are Money Counters, Altar Servers, and Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion.
- Trunk or Treat is happening on Friday, October 25th at Sts. Peter and Paul from 6:30 – 8:00pm. If you would like to decorate your trunk (as a scene from the Bible or something faith-based) and hand out treats, please sign up, or if you would like to donate treats, please place them in the collection box in the hall beginning Oct. 6th. We are also in need of volunteers to prepare and serve refreshments on the evening of the 25th. There will be a bonfire and S’mores. Children are asked to dress up in family-friendly costumes: nothing violent or horror-based, no weapons. Contact Celeste at [email protected] with questions, or to volunteer.
- There is another planning meeting scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 1st at 6:30pm at Sts. Peter & Paul.
- We have a second collection this weekend for our parish Religious Education program.
