· Last week I announced the passing of Robert O’Keeffe. His funeral Mass is scheduled for Tuesday, August 31st at 11am, followed by interment at the cemetery.
· Sadly, I announce the passing of Joe Arleth on Tuesday, August 24th. Please pray for the repose of his soul and keep Betty and the rest of his family in your prayers as they navigate this difficult time. Joe’s funeral Mass is planned for Saturday, September 18th at 11am, preceded by visitation with the family before Mass.
· Golf tournament details will be in next week’s bulletin but you may view pictures from the event on our Friends of Sts. Peter and Paul Facebook page. Thank you Jim and Maggie Cullinan for all of your time and effort that you put towards this fundraiser for the church!
· Get ready for the long-awaited return of “Broadway Show Night” on Friday, September 24th at 6:30pm in St. Francis Hall. Our feature musical is “Singin’ in the Rain” starring Gene Kelly, Donald O’Connor, and Debbie Reynolds. Admission is free and refreshments will be available during intermission.
· Parish financial year-end updates to parishioners (p. 3 & 10)
· CCD registration continues this weekend after Mass. Please bring each child’s baptismal certificate at the time of registration, along with payment. Please do not wait until classes begin to register. Classes resume on Sunday, September 12th at 9:45am. (p. 4 & 11)
· Those interested in Youth Group are asked to let us know when you would like to meet. We are compiling the information to see what the majority can do and we want to hear from you. See page 4 of the bulletin for the link to submit your feedback.
· REMINDER: There is a one-time special Mass at Sts. Peter and Paul this Sunday at 5pm for parents and their children of both Sts. Peter and Paul and St. Joseph’s. We will have a small treat for the kids after Mass (p. 7)
· Adoration has gaps in the schedule. Our goal is to have at least one person for every hour the chapel is available. If you would like to learn more about what to do at adoration, June Wimer will be in front of the Chapel after Masses on the weekends of Sept. 11/12 and Sept. 18/19 to share some insight and answer questions and make your appointment with Jesus.
· Our Bible study groups are ready to return on Monday, September 13th; Rejoice! at 1pm and Saved By the Book at 7pm in the Parish Hall. No need to sign up ahead of time, just show up with your Bible and pen and paper. (p. 7 & 11)
· RCIA returns Sunday, September 12th at 9:45am in the lounge. (p. 7)
· Grief Share returns on Wednesday, September 15th at 7pm in rm. 122 (the library) in the Parish Hall. (p. 7)
· Virginia March for Life is Friday, September 17th. The church has reserved a 23-passenger bus which leaves Sts. Peter and Paul at 10am. Reserve your seat for $15 with David Cauffield. (p. 8)
· 40 Days for Life begins on September 22nd. This event is open to all and our K of C will gather every Tuesday (beginning Sept. 28 – Oct. 26) from 9-11am in front of Planned Parenthood for prayer and fasting, peaceful vigils and community outreach. (p. 8)
· Our next BAKE SALE falls on Labor Day weekend (Sept. 4/5). If you love baking and find you have too much to consume yourself, we happily accept donations before both Masses. (p. 9)
· K of C and Fridays After 5 needs volunteers to help man gates. (p. 9)
· 40 year t-shirts in sizes XL – 4XL are available in the office. (p. 9)
· The next “Reflections” is on Thursday, September 29th after the 5pm Mass at St. Joseph’s in the Parish Hall. (p.10)
· The Diocese has updated “mask” guidance to correspond with the CDC and VDH recommendations of wearing masks indoors, regardless of vaccination status, in public settings; Mass is considered to be a public setting.
· The office hours on Friday, September 3rd are from 10 – 2pm only and will be closed on Monday, September 5th, due to the Labor Day holiday.
